Tie Dye Save

I bought this great cotton gauze skirt at The Gap a few years ago on a whim and have been wearing the daylights out of it. It's nice and long and very comfy- with a simple drawstring and button closure. Seriously- loved to wear this skirt. Anyway, a couple of years ago I splashed bleach on myself.

Pretty, right?

Right up front, if the truth were shown.

I thought about cutting it shorter but it was such a great length. Then I thought about sewing a border or some type of trim over it but it's a huge circle skirt and I didn't feel like figuring it out. Applique? No.... Dye the whole skirt? Maybe. But then I remembered a skirt I had years ago. Tie Dye!

First I secured the lower third or so of the skirt with three rows of rubber bands. Nice and tight.

Out to the patio with a bleach and water solution and let it sit in the sun for a bit. Rinse the daylights out of it, hang on the line to dry, and ...

ta-da! I'm your hippie momma.

Oh, I know it's imperfect but it's tie dye for cryin' out loud. For thumping around the house or out goofing around for the afternoon- hey, I'm just one of those old hippies. And happy about it too!

So this summer when I'm messing with pool chemicals and I splash a little on my favorite work clothes... wonder if it's OK to wear tie dye to work. Every day.

I so appreciate you looking in on me today-- see ya again. Oh, and today's butterfly image is kind of tie dye as well...
